Jerome’s Journal: Amarok — Page 32
An NFT Encyclopedia of Cryptids and Other Mythical Creatures
A protector of burial grounds, the Amarok is territorial over the land it has sworn to defend.
Amarok’s have a special bond with the energy of souls that have passed, often spending the rest of their lives defending areas of ones that they’ve lost.
I am unsure if they are able to physically feel some type of energy, or if it’s just them believing it to be true.
Amaroks are large, and when standing on their hind legs, can stand over 10 feet tall. They resemble that of a large grey wolf, but almost seems to be able to walk. Their bodies are almost like a hybrid between a wolf and a Silverback Gorilla.
Unlike wolves, the Amarok do not hunt in packs, they are strictly a lone wolf type. I have never seen an Amarok partnered with a Cryptid Hunter, but there have been stories of those who have had non-Cryptid Wolves as pets who after their owners died, they became more vicious, and eventually ran off before large wolf-like monsters show up.
There have been a couple different stories I’ve heard in different areas with similar happenings, leading me to believe that some wolves have latent cryptid energy to transform into an Amarok after heightened emotion.
