Jerome’s Journal: Hakobune — Page 25
An NFT Encyclopedia of Cryptids and Other Mythical Creatures
The Hakobune is a god of the forest. They are only able to be found in Enchanted Forests.
They have such an energy surrounding them, I believe Enchanted Forests, or forests fueled with Cryptid Energy, is in direct correlation with the Hakobune.
The longer a Hakobune lives in a forest, the more Enchanted Energy it sends to the life around it, and then siphons back through the Hakobune.
They are tall four legged creatures, with a long majestic tail. They have enchanted leaf-like manes. The more leafage on a Hakobune, the more Cryptid Energy it has. Their body is a warm brown, with green and white leafage. Their limbs are longer than what seems normal; it’s comparable to as if they were walking on stilts.
Hakobune are generally sweet and passive, but if you threaten their forest, you will likely not live to tell that tale.
They have been credited with the creation of many other Cryptids, such as the Wolpertinger and the Jackalope. It’s likely that there are many different types of Cryptids undiscovered in the different Enchanted Forests around the world.
To have a Hakobune as a Cryptid partner necessitates living in the forest itself, and the Cryptid Coalition put harsh restrictions on Hakobune Cryptid Partners based on the power over the land that it can have. You must get a permit and own the land the forest is on or face extreme legal consequences, often times giving up the Hakobune to the Cryptid Coalition.
