An NFT Encyclopedia of Cryptids and Other Mythical Creatures
The Perytons were thought to originally be deer living in the city of Atlantis, and the fast rate of their growing wings was a precursor that doom was on its way to Atlantis. Before the city sank to the bottom of the sea, receiving its name, The Sunken City, the Peryton herded together and took flight all at once, what was sure to be a mesmerizing site now comes across as hauntingly beautiful.
There were some ancient scripture that seemed to prophecise these beautiful creatures to be the downfall of their civilization. The drawings seem to indicate that it is not the same city of Atlantis, but the warnings could have come from a survivor.
My hypothesis is that the Peryton have some sort of sixth sense that allows them to connect on a deeper level with the planet, and feel the energy of impending doom.
Perytons seem to be a mixture of a stag and a bird, their back feet are talons, and they sprout a colorful tailfeadh. Their wings are some of the prettiest colors I have ever seen, almost appearing luminous with deep shades of purple and green. They have rather large antlers, each Peryton a different unique shape. I’ve heard that the antlers are poisonous to the touch, but I haven’t been able to confirm that.
